ตามที่นายบัณฑูร ล่ำซำ ได้ลาออกจากตำแหน่งกรรมการและประธานกรรมการ ธนาคารกสิกรไทย โดยมีผลตั้งแต่วันที่ 3 เมษายน 2563 นั้น ที่ประชุมคณะกรรมการธนาคาร เมื่อวันที่ 3 เมษายน 2563 ได้พิจารณาแล้วมีมติเอกฉันท์ในการประกาศยกย่อง โดยมอบฉายา “ประธานกิตติคุณ (Chairman Emeritus)” ให้แก่นายบัณฑูร ล่ำซำ ซึ่งฉายานี้จะไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับการบริหารจัดการของธนาคาร แต่เป็นการยกย่องให้เกียรตินายบัณฑูร ล่ำซำ ที่ได้ร่วมงานกับธนาคารกสิกรไทยเป็นเวลา 40 ปี ได้สร้างคุโณปการอย่างอเนกอนันต์ให้กับธนาคารกสิกรไทย เป็นผู้นำองค์กรให้เจริญก้าวหน้า มั่นคงอย่างยั่งยืน มีความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมและมีธรรมาภิบาล สามารถนำธนาคารผ่านวิกฤตสำคัญของประเทศและของโลกได้หลายครั้ง จนทำให้ธนาคารกสิกรไทยเป็นหนึ่งในองค์กรต้นแบบที่เป็นที่รู้จักและยอมรับอย่างสูงทั้งในประเทศและต่างประเทศ ดังนั้น การมอบฉายา “ประธานกิตติคุณ (Chairman Emeritus)” จึงเป็นเกียรติยศอันเหมาะสมน่ายกย่องที่นายบัณฑูร ล่ำซำ สมควรได้รับจากธนาคารกสิกรไทย
