A consortium of farmer's markets has been formed and it looks as though the idea is one who's time has come.Hope farmer's markets have not come to fruition in the past, but with the leadership of three managers, the consortium is working.The Hope Farmer's Market Manager is Jodi Coffee, while Debra Bolding manages the Nashville Farmer's Market, and Jaimie Williams and Sheila Ballard are co-managers for the Washington Farmer's Market.At the inaugural of the market on Tuesday, the Hope Farmer's Market had eight vendors selling their wares. There was also a cooking demonstration by Dixie Coffee.The Hope Coalition is the sponsoring entity for the market.Those vendors participating in the first market event included Albert and Vickie Motta, of Nashville; Jaimie Williams, of Washington; Jodi Coffee, of Hope; Joe Dallas, of Nashville; Bob and LuGene Erwin, of Cross Roads; George and Beverly Baker, of Arkadelphia; Shay Fields,Burberry Outlet, of Washington; Terry Kirkpatrick, of Hope, and Hannah Berry, of Washington.The customer will find fresh, locally-grown produce, sold by the grower, local honey, farm-fresh eggs, fresh-cut flowers,p90x dvd, home-baked goods, preserves, hand-made soaps, and hand-crafted items at some markets, according to market managers.There are weekly drawings, which can be won by visitors to the Farmer's Markets. The drawings are for produce and other market goods.The markets send out weekly e-mail notices of what's expected at the markets that week. WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program vouchers are accepted at all three market sites.Registering to sell is easy and quick. The following is a quick guide:1.Who is eligible? Those who grow produce or make other farm products, e.g. cottage goods, within 75 miles of Washington, may apply to sell at the markets. Farm products include vegetables, fruit, and other produce,chanel handbags, honey, eggs, home-baked goods, handmade soaps, jams and jellies.
