Bob worked for KMBT radio station in Nashville for awhile. He was a DJ and was in ad sales. Then, as fate would have it, Keenan Williams, owner of LaGrone Williams Hardware, asked Bob if he would like to help him in the store around Christmas. Bob has been working at the hardware store since 1999. LuGene has worked at the Hope Fair Park office since 2002 and loves it. I enjoy interacting with the people who come through, she said. This job also lets me work the soap business at night and on the weekends. The Erwins have been making soap for about 15 years and the business has grown. I used to work at Old Washington and made lye soap, LuGene said. My sister-in-law was in the soap-making business and I bought it from her when she wanted to get out of the business. Many factors go into making bars of soap. You have to have the right kind of oils in the soap, she said. We use coconut, palm, palm kernel, shea, and soybean oils in our soaps. You have to measure them exactly and they are very temperature exact. The humidity affects the quality of the soap also. Once it's in the molds, you put it in a 172 degree oven for two hours to cure it. Then, you let it set for two weeks and it's ready to be cut. You get 36 4 oz. bars from each mold, Bob said. You have to be very precise as to where to cut each bar. Saponification is a word used in the Erwin household. It literally means to make soap. It is the interaction of the lye with the oils, Bob said. Once you mix the two,louboutin pas cher, the lye disappears. Glycerin is left in the soaps, so it is beneficial to your skin. The Erwins both work full time and still have time for quality time with their children and granddaughter.
