China's military plans to train its senior officials at grass-roots units and urge them to give advice on the military's grass-roots building, according to a newly issued stipulation from the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).Xi Jinping, the chairman of the country's Central Military Commission, approved the stipulation, which orders senior officials at or above the regiment level of the PLA and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force, to perform alongside common soldiers or do research at a company-level unit.Military officials under 55 years old, without grass-roots experiences or at the company-level, were ordered to live with common soldiers for at least 15 days. They will also have to prepare their own supplies and pay for their food expenses.The brigade-level officials have been told to experience life with common soldiers or study with company-level units every three years.
