Surfers bear brunt of Sydney's wild weather, WHILE the predicted strong winds and rain failed to touch much of the coast for most of yesterday, the surf was pounding and it took its toll. A surfer at Newcastle Beach was washed off rocks while trying to get out to the 2m waves. He suffered minor cuts and bruises but his new board bought just four days ago was trashed.
