1999 Camry Brake failure

I pulled the front calipers up to expose the footwear, there was uneven ware(the inside ones where virtually wore out although the outside's showed little ware). I took off the brake shoe carrier(torque plate)that has the pins in it, they were rusted in and I sheared one off attempting to twist it out!$15.00 ea. for the left and right torque plates that the pins move freely in at the neighborhood junkyard. I place it back collectively with new grease on the pins and new shoes and that fixed my challenge. The peddle is at the top and has a firm feel. I didn't have to have a master cylinder after all!
