She was born and raised in Denver Colorado where she was a champion AAU swimmer and ski racer in her youth. She graduated from the University of Colorado and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She met the love of her life, Bill Allen and they married in Denver the summer of 1953. Then off to Tulsa, Bill’s home town. Here they raised their four children: Dr. William B. Allen, Bruce O. Allen, Edith Allen and David E. Allen. She was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church and involved in many church activities. Among her many charitable activities she served on the Board of Directors of Family and Children Services, Advisory Committee of the Children’s Division of Human Services Department. She was an honoree of the women’s division of the Tulsa Area United Way,celine bag, as well as Area Chairman of the March of Dimes, also on the advisory board of Jobs for Older Tulsans.
