If you score more than 90 points (out of 100) in the written exam, and can correctly identify the name and origin of two coffee brews, you got passed. Aside from this, a candidate must identify two coffee brews from a total of five - one by taste, and one by smell. A candidate achieving the Golden Apron status is also known in the industry as "coffee ambassador."Bruce Chen, a barista trainer at Starbucks, said: "The classification system for baristas rewards those people who put a lot of effort into their work." New staff at Starbucks are all given a PDF (Partner Development Plan) which describes the goals and training tasks that need to be completed in the weeks and months to come. "In my opinion, the plan helps us realize what opportunities are available, and it's a tool that can help us advance to the next post," said Queen Ye, a senior barista at the large chain coffee shop.
