About 73 percent of respondents reported that green retrofit investments pay for themselves in five years or less - and 85 percent say those investments pay off in 10 years or less. This tells us that green technologies are competitive and good investments for building owners. In our Carrier business we know this to be a fact. Around the world, we have implemented retrofits with paybacks that are typically less than three years. One example is the Shanghai Hilton Hotel, where the Carrier team was able to optimize the Hotel's chiller plant and improve system efficiency by 42 percent. There is a strong acceleration in the number of green building projects in all regions of the world. And it's no longer just about new construction. Green buildings now command a premium - and building green is itself a factor in investment decisions. This is the inflection point. Green building is no longer just good for the planet: it is good for business. All of us have the ability to change the world, building by building. We have the ability to create a greener future for future generations.
