Jinja Municipal Council authorities have started planting trees and flowers along streets in a campaign to beautify the town. Over 200 trees have been planted along Nalufenya Road. The town clerk, Francis Barabanawe, told New Vision last Friday that the exercise will cost sh50m. He also said they would buy rubbish bins to be placed at various places in the town. Barabanawe also warned residents against growing food crops along streets, saying they would face the law. “I have directed all those who had turned road reserves into gardens to stop. We want to beautify the town,�?he said.
It s not our duty as a government to regulate every aspect of every individual s lives. State Rep. Kendell Kroeker, R-EvansvilleTrue, Mr. Kroeker. But it is the duty of the Wyoming Legislature to make sure that state residents are safe from illness and death. That is why it says in the state Constitution that government is instituted for the people s peace, safety and happiness. We continue to wonder why lawmakers are willing to put that responsibility to keep the people protected behind their desire to flex their philosophical muscles. They might be willing to sacrifice their personal health on the altar of high conservativism, but they should not force the rest of the state s residents to do the same.Unfortunately, that has not stopped Mr. Kroeker and others from peddling the Food Freedom Act.
